NASA recently began accepting applications for new astronauts, and a new batch of astronauts will go to Houston to participate in the Artemis space exploration program.
The Artemis program, which will send a woman and a man to the moon in 2024, will provide the necessary information for Mars exploration programs.
Childhood dreams seem to be in sight, but things are far from simple!
If you want to become an astronaut, you must meet various harsh conditions!
Academic requirements:
To become an astronaut, education is necessary. NASA requires that astronaut candidates must have a master’s degree or above, and majors need to be related to engineering, biology, physics, computer, and mathematics.
Candidates can also be elite personnel who have been engaged in related professions for many years.
Experience requirements:
Like many companies applying for jobs, NASA astronauts also need “work experience.”
NASA astronaut candidates need to have professional flight experience learning, or have more than 1,000 hours of flight experience. Astronauts with flying experience are more likely to accept the experience of rocket launch.
In contrast, NASA astronauts do not have high requirements for flight experience, and US commercial pilot recruitment generally requires more than 1,500 hours of flight experience.
Healthy body:
No matter what job it is, physical fitness is a necessary reference condition. The physical fitness requirements of NASA astronauts are even more stringent:
Natural vision or vision with simple assistance can reach 2.0.
Blood pressure is normal.
There is no deformity in the sitting and standing postures.
Height between 157cm – 190cm.
Possess a diving certificate.
Candidates must complete militarization testing as well as survival training.
Flight Mission Training:
A NASA astronaut candidate with the potential to survive in space for up to a year. Therefore, all candidates need to receive education and flight training at NASA or a partner.
It is best to master Russian:
All NASA astronauts will have 2 years of Russian training, which is a necessary space skill – because visiting the International Space Station, will often travel on Russian spacecraft.
citizenship:
Of course, to apply for NASA astronauts, U.S. citizenship is a must.
The astronauts recruited by NASA this time are likely to make history:
Astronauts will use the all-new NASA Rocket Launch System to experience the most powerful NASA rocket ever built.
Returning to the moon, and possibly even participating in the Mars program.
I wanted to be an astronaut since I was a child. Seeing this kind of recruitment conditions, I was really cold in an instant!
